Embodied Strategy for Modern Humans.
bring your body into the conversation.
You’ve been in talk therapy. You’ve tried meditating. The silent retreat that promised the "nervous-system reset of all time.”
And yet, still, you can go into full-on panic when Suzy at work asks who broke the copy machine and you were the last to use it. You have the dream life but there’s this nagging sense that something is wrong that only gets louder each year.
You know that, logically, this doesn’t make sense - you’ve gotten that far. But then, why don’t the knowing/mantras/mindset work change the feeling?
Somatic work goes deeper. It goes beneath the story your mind knows well and asks to trust your body. Your intuition. Your heart. Yourself.
But first, you have to know how to listen. As your guide and facilitator, I provide the space for you to slow down, get curious, and be real with yourself.
It’s very much a both/and; the mind-body working together to create ease and alignment within you.
strip away the bullshit and look within.

Yes/and. Meditation teaches us to observe our experience and detach from suffering. Hakomi (somatics) asks us to stay with our experience as we become mindful, so we can start to recognize how we suffer and how we might change our behaviors & beliefs so we suffer less.

It could be! A great way to distinguish the two is: a clinical psychotherapist starts with the mind and may include the body, whereas a somatic practitioner starts with the body and the mind assists. If you want to strengthen your mind-body connection or approach healing from a different lens, that’s where I come in.
Side note: I love working in tandem with psychotherapists and other health professionals so that you get the full spectrum of support that you need! This is especially true if you’ve experienced capital T-rauma.

This is one of the most common things I hear when I begin working with clients. “Will I blow up my life?”
Maybe, but most likely not. Even if you have lots of responsibilities and commitments that you just can’t quit, our work can orient you to what you truly desire and build the nervous system you need to get there. As with most things, consistent change over time is what lasts.
Mindfulness.
We have to slow down and pay attention. In a world where attention is the most precious resource we have, spend it on yourself.
Practically? I guide you, again and again, back to your present experience and help you stay with yourself. I use guided meditation, breathing technniques, and carefully curated questions to get there.
Curiosity.
As you start to focus on yourself, you become aware of how your body is experiencing the challenge you came in with. Your other senses start to pick up on sensations, emotions, memories, images, and all the other ways your subconscious communicates. Your job? Stay curious and present.
Practically? You and I dialogue throughout, you observing your experience and what happens as you work through it while communicating your observations. I stay with you, using my training and techniques to deepen your connection to self, watch how your body/affect changes, and draw attention to subconscious beliefs and patterns.
Cultivation.
Your body and intuition have their own voice. Their own language. By taking the time to learn it, you create the ability to have a conversation. To know what it sounds like when it speaks. You begin to function taking all parts of you into consideration, and you cultivate a trust-based relationship with yourself.
Practically? You make connections between sensations and emotions, things that may have happened long ago that still show up in your body, and we make notes. You start to hear your “no” when you feel your stomach clench and your “yes” when your heart flutters. We study these pathways, an interconnected system unique to you and your life experience, so you can know yourself fully, heal profoundly and live with agency.
